Valve Solutions for Chemical & Petrochemical Processing
Chemical plants and petrochemical refineries demand valves that hold their integrity when the medium is aggressive, the pressure is high, and failure is not an option. CTGV manufactures fluorine-lined, corrosion-resistant valves and alloy-grade valves for strong acid, strong alkali, and hydrocarbon service, shipped factory-direct from Wenzhou.

Matched to Your Process Medium
The right valve lining depends entirely on what flows through the pipe. Select your process medium below to see the pain points it typically creates and the valve configuration CTGV recommends.

Strong Acid Service
Sulfuric, hydrochloric, and nitric acid attack standard valve bodies and rubber seals within months. Plants relying on unlined valves face frequent seal replacement, corrosion-driven leaks, and shutdown risk from drips of concentrated acid at elevated temperature.
The disc, body bore, and stem seal area are all covered in PTFE or PFA, so the acid never contacts metal at any point in the flow path. Unlike rubber-lined alternatives, PTFE does not swell or harden when exposed to concentrated acid, and its low coefficient of friction means the seal stays tight through thousands of open-close cycles without the disc bonding to the seat.

Strong Alkali Service
Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide at high concentration cause stress corrosion cracking in carbon steel and attack standard elastomeric seats. Heated alkali lines show premature seat wear and stem leakage that contaminates product and creates hazardous conditions.
Alkali throttling duty needs precise flow regulation, which a globe valve provides far better than a gate or ball valve. The bellows replace traditional packing entirely, so there is no stem leak path for hot caustic solution to escape through — a critical advantage since packing-sealed valves in alkali service typically need re-tightening or repacking within the first year. The bellows design is maintenance-free for the life of the valve.

Organic Solvents & Chlorinated Media
Chlorine gas and halogenated compounds permeate through standard PTFE at elevated temperatures and can swell or dissolve common elastomers entirely. A small leak in this service can trigger toxic gas release events and facility shutdowns.
PFA has a denser molecular structure than standard PTFE, giving it a substantially lower permeation rate against chlorinated solvents — the property that matters most when the consequence of a leak is toxic gas release rather than simple product loss. Where the medium is also oxidising, a Hastelloy C276 body removes the lining dependency altogether, since the alloy itself resists attack at the metal surface.

Petroleum & Hydrocarbon Service
Crude oil and refined hydrocarbon streams carry fire risk — any external valve leakage in an explosive atmosphere can be catastrophic. Standard butterfly valves without fire-safe construction lose their seal once elastomeric seats burn away.
This valve is built with a secondary metal-to-metal seal behind the primary elastomeric seat. If the primary seat burns away in a fire event, the metal seal engages automatically and maintains shutoff — exactly the failure mode API 607 fire testing is designed to verify. For non-fire-rated refinery lines, the double offset design also gives lower operating torque than a comparable gate valve, which matters on large-diameter hydrocarbon transfer lines.
Valve Products for Chemical Service
CTGV's petrochemical valve and chemical valve range covers isolation, regulation, and non-return duties across the full range of corrosive and aggressive media — spanning butterfly, ball, globe, and check valve series. All products are available in multiple lining materials, pressure classes, and actuation options.

Read MoreWhy Lining Selection Matters
In chemical process piping, it is the surfaces in contact with the medium — not the valve body — that determine service life. The wrong lining absorbs, swells, or permeates under the wrong medium, leading to seal failure within the first year. Selecting the right material at the design stage removes this risk entirely.
Prevents Premature Failure
Unlined or mismatched liners crack and permeate under aggressive, acid-resistant service conditions, often failing within 12–18 months of installation.
Eliminates External Leakage
Full coverage at the body, disc, and stem seal area removes the metal-to-medium contact points where corrosion-driven leaks typically start.
Reduces Lifetime Maintenance Cost
Correctly specified linings extend service intervals significantly, cutting the replacement and downtime costs common with rubber-lined alternatives.
| Lining | Max. Temp. | Strong Acid | Strong Alkali | Chlorinated Solvent | Typical Use Case |

Fluorine-Lined Valves for a PVC & Fine Chemical Complex in East China
A chemical industrial park in eastern China producing PVC resin and fine chemical intermediates needed corrosion-resistant valve solutions capable of handling continuous exposure to hydrochloric acid (HCl) and chlorine gas (Cl₂) at concentrations above 30%. Rubber-lined units installed previously were failing within 18 months due to liner swelling and stem leakage, causing unplanned shutdowns and safety incidents.
CTGV supplied a complete set of fluorine-lined (PTFE-lined) concentric butterfly valves and acid-resistant check valves across the reactor feed, acid circulation, and waste acid recovery pipeline sections. The fully lined chemical valve configuration — selected for its resistance to strong acids and alkalis — has now operated through three full production cycles without seal replacement or leakage incident, eliminating the recurring maintenance costs of the previous rubber-lined system.
