Buna-N (NBR) is essentially the anti-EPDM. While EPDM shuns oil, NBR embraces it. 

Its unique chemical makeup includes acrylonitrile, which gives it that incredible ability to resist swelling and degradation from non-polar hydrocarbons. 

This makes NBR indispensable across the automotive, petrochemical, and manufacturing sectors.

If your system involves any kind of fuel, oil, or non-polar solvent, NBR is the material you have to choose.

The trade-off for NBR’s oil resistance is reduced thermal stability and environmental durability. 

NBR’s maximum continuous operating temperature is usually lower than EPDM’s, typically maxing out around 100 to 120 degrees Celsius.
